Gentry, Anita Dawson

GREENSBORO Mrs. Anita Dawson Gentry, 74, a resident of Greensboro passed away on Thursday, August 16, 2017, at Moses H. Cone Hospital. She was born January 27, 1943, in Gibsonville, the daughter of Robert Glen and Flora Wyrick Dawson. Anita was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Robert Green Gentry, one sister, Doris Dawson and two brothers; Ronald and Donald Dawson. She graduated class valedictorian from Gibsonville High School and was the bookkeeper for Lemco Hosiery Mill for 27 years and then the Food Lion Grocery Store in Haw River. Anita was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church, where she served as church treasurer. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Clyde Green Gentry, Jr. of the home; two sons; Jefferey Duane Gentry of the home, Brad Gentry of the home; one sister, Shirley Hartman of Haw River and one granddaughter, Megan A. Gentry of Atlanta, Georgia. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 22, 2017, at All Saints Episcopal Church, 4211 Wayne Rd., Greensboro, NC 27407 officiated by The Reverend Paula C. Rachal. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 23, 2017, at Alamance Memorial Park in Burlington. The family will receive friends at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel on Monday, August 21, 2017, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The family requests that any memorials be made in Anita's memory to All Saints Episcopal Church. Guthrie, F. Edward "Ed"

GREENSBORO F. Edward "Ed" Guthrie, Jr., a resident of Greensboro, passed away on Wednesday August 23, 2017 at Wesley Long Hospital. Ed was born December 4, 1947 in Lynchburg, VA, the son of F. Edward Guthrie, Sr. and Maggie Sydnor Starkey Guthrie. Ed was a member and valedictorian of the graduating class of 1965 at William Campbell High School in Brookneal, VA. He graduated from Virginia Tech and received his MBA from UNC at Greensboro. He was retired from Flowserve in Lynchburg, VA, where he was a mechanical engineer. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior at the age of ten and was a member of Hope Christian Fellowship in Greensboro. Ed was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his father; a sister, Barbara G. Carter and a step-son, Aaron Andrews. Ed was married to Rita Lou Burcham, who preceded him in death on August 2, 1999. He later married Phyllis Cates Andrews, who survives, of the home. Surviving in addition to his wife Phyllis are one son, Duane Guthrie and wife Brandy of Greensboro; one daughter, Dana G. Pfaff and husband Jonathan of Pleasant Garden; one step-daughter, Tahneah Saunders and husband Jack of Greensboro; his mother, Maggie Guthrie of Brookneal, VA; one sister, Anne G. Booth and husband Ralph of Burnt Chimney, VA; one brother, Ron Guthrie of Lynchburg, VA and eight grandchildren, Lucas and Sarah Guthrie, Addison, Kathryn, Hannah and Evan Pfaff and Brittney and Brandon Saunders. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel conducted by Pastor Robert Faircloth and Reverend Lavin Burcham. Burial with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard will follow in Guilford Memorial Park.
